FLAG FOOTBALL FAQs
|
I haven't played with Big D Sports before...what does your field look like?
Take a regular 100 Yard football field and divide it into thirds. This is a Big D Sports football
field which plays 'crossways' from sideline to sideline. A regular field is then about 35 yards
wide and the normal width of a football field long. (approx 60 yards). It may seem small at first,
but run up and down after a few long bombs and you'll wish it was smaller. You can get a maximum of
2 first downs (2 cones for a first) before scoring on a field.
What do I need to bring with me?
Big D Sports provides all of the equipment you would need for a flag football game including:
Equipment - 2 part pull away flags (the belt does not come off) and footballs, but it is recommended that you bring your own football
Fields - We reserve the field and give you your game schedule and provide sporty orange cones
Supervision - Referees will join you at every game (minimum 2 per field - 1 back judge,1 line judge)
The only thing you might want to bring are cleats/turf shoes and long pants. It is a good idea that
each team have a light and dark set of shirts with them for each game [teams are either light or dark
for every game, which will be decided at the fields.] Also, don't forget your ID for drinks after the games.
Ok I'm signing up, what if I need to change my roster?
Roster changes are allowed up until the 3rd week of any Big D Sports season. Football rosters should never be
larger that 15 people, but we suggest you carry 12 players. After the third week you can only modify your roster
by applying for a special exemption due to injury or other weird/unfortunate occurrence. During registration,
you will be given a roster. Rosters are due to the field coordinator before your first game. We will have rosters
available at the field for changes. Playoff teams will only be able to use players that are on their roster.
What about my skill level?
This is coed recreational flag football. All skill levels are
welcome to participate, from the beginner to the long time player.
Cool I'm signed up, what about practices?
Some teams practice several times a week. Some don't practice at all.
Unfortunately, Big D Sports does not provide practice time during the regular
season on our fields. You are welcome to show up early and
practice/warm-up on the side, or practice on your own.
