Kickball Rules Overview
  • WE'RE OUT HERE TO HAVE FUN AND INTERACT
  • We will be playing under the following Big D Sports special rules.
  • 10 players on the field: Co-ed (6 Males/ 4 females)
  • May start a game with as few as 8 players, but you must have at least 3 of each gender to play.
  • Game time is forfeit time, make sure you have your players at the field ready to go at your designated game time
  • May "bat" the bench, but offensive line up must remain alternated male/female or female/male.
  • There are no defensive line up restrictions, play where you want
  • Games will be 6 innings or 55 minutes.  NO NEW INNING SHALL START AFTER 50 MINUTES HAS ELAPSED.
  • There will be no extra innings in the event of a tie during regular season play.  Playoff ties will be determined
by the last out of the previous inning going to 2nd base and each batter coming to the plate receiving 1 pitch.
  • 6 run "run rule" will be in effect for the first 2 innings. Starting the 3rd inning, runs will be unlimited
  • All games will be played with a regular playground ball provided by the league
  • Each team will supply it's own pitcher, to pitch to their own batters.  This person shall not play defense
and must make an attempt to get out of the way of a kicked ball.
  • Batter shall receive 3 pitches, 1 of which must be put into play.  If none of the 3 pitches is put into play,
that batter is deemed out.  No walks will be allowed.
  • Any kicked ball must pass the 50' pitchers plate to be a fair ball.  Any ball not kicked past the pitchers plate
shall be considered a foul ball strike.
  • Defensive outs are record by one of the following:
    1. None of 3 pitched balls is put into play
    2. A ball put into play is caught by the defense on the fly (before touching the ground).
    3. A ball put into play is touched on a force out base, before an offensive runner reaches that base.
    4. An offensive player is either hit with or touched by a ball put into play, while they are off of a base.
  • Any other rules will be based on common sense baseball/softball rules
COED KICKBALL FAQs

I haven't played with Big D Sports before...what should I expect?
Coed Kickball at Big D Sports is recreational. You should expect to have fun and meet some new people.

What do I need to bring with me?
You will need to bring your own comfortable clothes and shoes to play in. Uniforms or numbered jerseys are not required. Also, don't forget your ID for drinks after the games.  Big D Sports will provide an umpire/scorekeeper and game ball.

Ok I'm signing up, what if I need to change my roster?
Roster changes are allowed up until the 3rd week of any Big D Sports season. Kickball rosters should never be larger that 16 people, but we suggest you carry 12 paid players. After the third week you can only modify your roster by applying for a special exemption due to injury or other weird/unfortunate occurrence. During registration, you will be given a roster. Rosters are due to the field coordinator before your first game. We will have rosters available at the field for changes. Playoff teams will only be able to use players that are on their roster.

What about my skill level?
This is coed recreational kickball.  All skill levels are welcome to participate.  Remember, this is a kids game!!!!

Cool I'm signed up, what about practices?
Some teams practice several times a week. Some don't practice at all. Unfortunately, Big D Sports does not provide practice time during the regular season on our fields. You are welcome to show up early and practice/warm-up on the side, or practice on your own.
